✨Spending insights
Getting a birds-eye view of your financials.
Spending Insights in Finch give you a clear, easy-to-read view of how your money is moving over time. This feature combines your transactions, account balances, and budgets so you can see exactly where your money is going and how you are tracking against your financial goals.
Viewing Balances
The Balances view shows the flow of money in and out of your connected accounts for the time period you have selected. At the top of the screen, there is a graph that tracks your total balance across all selected accounts day-by-day, helping you spot trends at a glance.
Below the graph, you will find:
Total money in: The total value of all credits to your accounts for the selected period. This includes deposits, income, refunds, and any other incoming funds.
Total money out: The total value of all debits from your accounts for the selected period. This includes purchases, withdrawals, bill payments, and any other outgoing funds.
Big Balance Items: The largest individual changes to your balance during the selected time frame. This makes it easy to quickly identify significant or unusual activity. Tapping on any of these items takes you directly to the transaction that caused it so you can view the full details.

Viewing Budgets
The Budgets view connects your actual spending to the budgets you have set in Finch. At the top, you will see:
Spend remaining: How much you still have left to spend within your set budget for the current month or year.
Monthly Budget: The total budgeted amount for the selected period.
Spend in [Month]: The total amount you have spent so far in the current period.
Scrolling down shows a breakdown of each budget you have created, along with a progress bar so you can quickly see how close you are to your limit. If you have gone over budget, the overspend amount will appear in red.
You can tap on any budget to see a list of all transactions assigned to it. This makes it easy to understand exactly what is contributing to your total and decide if adjustments are needed to your spending or budget amounts.

Date and Account Filters
You can adjust the date range at the top of the Spending Insights screen to focus on a specific period, such as a single week, month, or custom range. You can also choose which accounts to include in your insights. For example, you might want to see spending trends only for your personal accounts, or exclude savings accounts when reviewing day-to-day expenses. These filters apply instantly so you can quickly compare different views of your financial activity.
