🏡Setting up a budget
Adding a strong foundation to your Finch.
To create a budget, head to the Profile tab on the bottom right of the app and select Budgets from the Settings list. This will take you to the Monthly Budgets screen where you can see any existing budgets you have set up.
At the bottom of this screen, tap Add new budget. You will be taken to the budget setup screen.
On the budget setup screen, you will be asked to enter the following:
Budget Name: Choose a clear name so you can easily identify this budget later. Examples include "Groceries," "Rent," or "Travel."
Budget per Month: The amount you want to allocate for this budget based on the budget type you choose.
Budget Type: Select whether your budget is Monthly or Yearly.
Monthly Budgets track spending each month against a set monthly goal. These are best used for recurring expenses like bills, subscriptions, groceries, or regular savings contributions.
Yearly Budgets track spending across the entire year against a single annual goal. This is useful for larger, less frequent expenses such as holidays, annual insurance payments, car maintenance, or membership renewals. Instead of resetting each month, the yearly budget keeps a running total from the start to the end of the year.
Icon and Emoji: When creating your budget, you can select an icon and pair it with an emoji to visually represent it. This makes it easier to identify your budgets at a glance and adds a bit of personality to your financial tracking.
