# Getting Started with Birdr

## Getting Started

Welcome to birdr — your personal bird collection.

birdr turns every bird you spot into a collectible card. Snap a photo, let our AI identify the species, and build your personal Pokédex of birds you've seen in the wild.

### Setting Up Your Account

1. **Download birdr** from the App Store or Google Play Store.
2. **Sign in** using your Apple or Google account. No passwords to remember.
3. **Grant permissions** — birdr will ask for camera and location access. Camera is required to photograph birds. Location is optional but powers features like Explore and sighting mapping.
4. **Start birding!** You're ready to capture your first bird.

### Your First Capture

1. Tap the **shutter button** on the Capture tab to open the camera.
2. **Frame the bird** in your viewfinder and take a photo.
3. birdr's AI will **analyze the photo** and identify the species.
4. Once confirmed, your bird is added to your collection as a **collectible card**.
5. Watch the **card reveal animation** — rarer birds get a more dramatic reveal!

### Navigating the App

birdr has four main tabs:

* **Capture** — your home base. Tap the shutter to photograph and identify birds.
* **Collection** — browse all the bird cards you've collected, organized by habitat.
* **Explore** — discover what bird species are in your area and which ones you haven't spotted yet.
* **Profile** — view your streaks, achievements, subscription, and settings.
